.SustainFloyd to Host Springtime Dinner and Film “Thomas Berry: The Great Story” This Saturday Night
Floyd, Virginia – SustainFloyd declares spring is here and invites everyone to a beans and rice dinner with a screening of the inspirational documentary “Thomas Berry: The Great Story” at 6:30 p.m. at the Floyd Country Store this Saturday night, April 18th. An expert panel will lead a brief discussion after the film for those who’d like to stay.
As a pioneer in the field of spirituality and ecology, Thomas Berry created a quiet revolution. He was a monk, a cultural historian, an author, a teacher, and a mystic.
“This film portrays the life and work of the famous eco-theologian, Thomas Berry,” says Jackie Crenshaw, Acting President of SustainFloyd. “As our world awakens this spring, Berry hoped to awaken us to the fact that this earth is sacred. He called us “mad” for the way we are despoiling our planet. This documentary is a touching call for us to remember our relationship to the whole of creation.”
Doors at the Floyd Country Store will open at 6:30 p.m. for dinner ($5 donation) followed by the film at 7 p.m. ($5 additional donation). Floyd’s Riverstone Organic Farm will sponsor the evening.
Following the film, an expert panel will take questions and lead an audience discussion.
