Floyd Contra Dance
April 14, 2018 : 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
An event every month that begins at 8:00 pm on day Second of the month, repeating until May 26, 2018
BLue Ridge Country Dancers hosts the monthly community contra dance, Saturday, April 14, at the Floyd Center for the Arts, 8-11 pm, with Balancing Act, a Staunton area band, and Joy Greenwolfe, an experienced dance caller from Durham, NC. Balancing Act has the talents of Bill Wellington on fiddle and banjo and Jim Harrington on accordion. The band’s music is highly danceable, combining the drive of Southern music with the lilt of Irish and New England tunes, a fun combination that’s perfect for contra dance.
Join us for a contra dance in Floyd every second Saturday, Sept. through May. All are welcome, no partner needed, at the Floyd Contra Dance, Saturday, June 10, 8 – 11 p.m., a monthly event at the Floyd Center for the Arts, 220 Parkway Lane South, second floor. Start with a beginner lesson at 7:35, and come as you are; wear soft flexible shoes for dancing, and the caller will teach each dance. Admission is $8.00; $6.50 student ID.
