Intermediate Live Sound Workshop with Joebass

The Floyd Country Store’s Handmade Music School is offering Live Sound Workshops with Joebass from Studio808A.

This intermediate workshop is designed for folks who already know how to set-up and run a small PA, but are looking to become more familiar with fine tuning a system for the best possible sound using the classic “single mic technique” where the who band performs around a single microphone. We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using extra “spot” microphones or onboard mics. We will take an in depth look into equalization, (both channel EQ and graphic/parametric bus EQ) to learn how to shape sounds to create a cohesive natural mix for a band, We will introduce the concept of compression. We will look at advanced feedback elimination techniques, proper gain staging, and room acoustics. This workshop will conclude with a hands-on mixing session where attendees will set up a live mix using a minimalist microphone array and a digital console with live musicians.
