April 14, Sunday
1:00 – 3:00 - Hike Dodd Creek Nature and Fitness Trail with Master Naturalist instructor,
Michael Williams and Jane Cundiff from the Wild Garden Club . Learn more about Nature and fitness along the way. Meet at the head of the trail, behind the ball fields in the parking lot at the Floyd Recreation Park off Rt. 8 just north of Town, across from Family Dollar Store.
3:30 – 5:00 – Floyd Library. Spring Plant and Seed Swap. Sharing plants, seedlings, seeds, tools or pots. Bring what you have or take what you need!

April 15, Monday
9-11 - Beginner Birding and nature hike for all ages, along the West Fork of the Little River, lead by Master Naturalist instructor, Michael Williams. Email Michael at miwilli6@vt.edu to sign up. On Rt 8, going north from Floyd, Turn right on to Gallimore Ln just past Wills Ridge. Go 3/4 of a mile and park on the side of the road before the bridge. You will pass 602 Gallimore Ln just before getting to the bridge. Call 540-230-0556 if you need to.

11-6 – Spikenard Honeybee Sanctuary – Dandelion Day and Pollinator Plant sale. Come experience the wonder and beauty of the Honeybee Sanctuary. Tours are available, as well as an opportunity to purchase gifts and bee products at the farm. 401 Hideaway Ln, Floyd, VA. See website for directions.

FLOYD COMMUNITY EARTH WEEK CELEBRATION
April 20, Saturday, 10:00-4:00, LINEBERRY PARK
Hosted by Partnership for Floyd and Springhouse School

From 10:00-4:00 The park will be filled with FREE Nature workshops and information from
12 organizations. Music during the day by the Handmade Music School and the Kovicks. Free
wildflower seeds, fruit trees, nature treasure hunt, storytelling, gardening info +++
11:00 - A trashy fashion show on stage
1:00 – 3:00 Procession of Appalachian Species with Springhouse - Giant Puppet Parade
from Lineberry Park throughout downtown.
3:00 – 4:00 Partnership for Floyd celebrates 20 years of service to our community with a
FREE ice cream social!

10-1 - Old Church Gallery – new exhibit, "There's the Buffalo!" Life closer to nature in old time Floyd. 110 Wilson St SE, Floyd, just a very short walk from the Farmers Market.
5-7 – Floyd Center for the Arts - opening reception Exhibition of "Earth First" artwork, and an
exhibition by Spikenard Honeybee Sanctuary. Artists exploring themes of sustainability and connection

2-4 - Crooked Mountain Campground, Earth Day on the Farm. event focusing on small farm
conservation, with special emphasis on water. Experts from VT will answer questions. A presentation at 2:30 will be followed by a guided tour of the pond, campground, and cut flower field plans for this year. Free refreshments!

April 22, Monday = Earth Day!
12 – 12:30 – at Sacred Star and Stone (110A North Locust Street) each day of Floyd Earth Week as we explore the wondrous selection of stones and minerals the Earth has formed. Each day will be a different stone/mineral to discover.
3:30 – 5:00+ Floyd Library - Family Art Adventure: Making Planters from Recycled Materials.
Stretch your creative muscles by working with cardboard, papier-mâché, and more!
5:30 – 8:00 - Partnership for Floyd and Wild Garden Club lead a guided hike on the
Dodd Creek Nature and Fitness Trail with those who designed it. Followed by an EARTH DAY CELEBRATION POTLUCK at the picnic shelter about 7:00. (Sunset is at 8:00) Please bring your own picnic needs (plates, cups, utensils) to reduce waste!

April 27, Saturday
10-1- Farmers Market offers special Earth Week activities and discounts by Sustain Floyd
9-5 - FCHS annual greenhouse sale at the high school greenhouses on Baker St. SW.

April 28, Sunday
12-5 - FCHS annual greenhouse sale at the high school greenhouses on Baker St. SW.
2-3 - Floyd Library – “Every Day is Earth Day if you are a Reptile!” Learn about some of our common turtles, snakes, and lizards. Even meet some of our live reptilian volunteers!
