Refreshments and Historical Society Updates begin at 10:45 with Dr. Thompson presenting and taking questions at 11:00 AM

Rock Castle Home explores life in Rock Castle Gorge and the displacement of the Rock Castle Farming community with the National Park Service construction of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

This is a FREE Public Event:  All are invited and encouraged to attend.

Dr. Charlie Thompson is a Professor of Cultural Anthropology and Documentary Studies at Duke University.  Dr. Thompson holds a Ph.D. in religion and culture from UNC-Chapel Hill, with concentrations in cultural studies and Latin American studies. He also holds an M.S. degree in Agricultural Education from NC A&T State University. His particular interests include farmworkers, immigration, agriculture, and Appalachian Studies.
