Rock Castle Gorge Hike

This will be a 6-mile route that goes through forests and meadows, and along a ridge offering enchanting views. We’ll search for signs of homesteads long gone and possibly come face to face with some cows grazing on a hillside. About 3 miles of the hike will be along the original Appalachian Trail where we can imagine hikers’ walking before it was moved further west in the 1950s. This stretch includes an original AT shelter – and maybe we can give each other trail names. There is a 3-mile option if you are short on time although you will miss the AT shelter.
