Rhythms – A Movement Based Expressive Arts Exploration

September 16 : 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

How are you moving through Life?
If your body could speak, what would it say?
This preparatory workshop is intended to introduce people to the TAMALPA LIFE/ART® Process, a somatic movement and expressive arts practice, which I am fortunate and honored to facilitate after three years of training at Tamalpa Institute and many years of personal practice since receiving my certification in 2019. Perhaps this class will spark your interest in joining me for an 8 week series of classes beginning Monday, Sept. 30th. The series of classes will delve into harmonizing our inner and outer landscapes as we descend into darkness, preparing for rest.
TLAP classes are designed to tune the physical body to sensation and feeling, heightening our self awareness and connecting body, mind, and spirit through the transformative power of imagination. Classes begin with a somatic awareness exercise and from there a movement exploration. Employing the art mediums of drawing and creative writing, we will delve into what emerged through the movement exploration. Through individual and group sharing, witnessing and aesthetic response, participants will potentially generate additional resources to support their well-being through the ever-changing cycles of the human experience.
Adults of all levels of ability are welcome. No previous experience in dance or art is needed. Come with the intention to heighten your somatic body awareness, express your creative potential, deepen your understanding of how you move through life and to generate new resources for empowered well being.
WHAT IS TAMALPA LIFE/ART® Process?
“The Tamalpa Life/Art Process®, also referred to as the Halprin Life/Art Process®, is an integrated approach that explores the wisdom of the body as expressed through movement, dance, and imagination. We use artistic processes and media to explore and deepen our relationship to psychological life, to social issues, and to creativity itself.” https://www.tamalpa.org/about-us/our-process
Listen to Daria Halprin and witness the process in real time – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVQ50oG2bnE
