Preserve Floyd Potluck & Reunion Meeting

February 2, 2017 : 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Dear Protectors and Preservers of Floyd County:

It’s been so long since we gathered! Let’s join together with good friends and good food to talk about how we can continue to protect and preserve this beautiful county we call home.

We’ll meet in the community room of the beautiful, off-the-grid Burmed Lodge at the Floyd EcoVillage. Come early if you would like a tour! Please bring food or drink to share. You’re welcome to show up anytime and plug into whatever parts you wish. We do request that you arrive with the intention of respectful participation and in the spirit of building and supporting community action.

Tentative Schedule/Agenda:

5 PM–Tours of the off-the-grid Burmed Lodge
6 PM–Potluck
6:45-8:45–Meeting

Our special guests for the evening will be Michael James Deramo, our community organizer with the Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League (BREDL), and Carolyn Reilly, our friend and ally from Preserve Franklin.

Michael will offer a presentation on Community Choice Agreements and the benefits of renewable energy. He’s also available to assist us in exploring our participation as a chapter of BREDL and to share some of the exciting new developments within other community groups in the region.

Carolyn and her family and community are still fighting the Mountain Valley Pipeline, which is still proposed to devastate their family farm. She’ll fill us in on the latest developments in Virginia’s fracked-gas pipeline fight and brainstorm with us about ways in which Floyd can help support the movement.

Please come if you can and bring a friend or three!
