Music of the Mountains Exhibit

The Music of the Mountains exhibit at the Floyd Historical Society museum focuses on the music of Appalachia, particularly music that has a Floyd County touch. It includes items that range from early church music to the present music scene, along with information about individual musicians such as Blind Alfred Reed, Randall Hylton, Arthur Conner, as well as local groups.

The Museum is open each Friday and Saturday (through December 6) from noon until 4 pm. There is no admission fee.

The Museum Store specializes in books with a focus on local history. We also have a variety of other items, many of them perfect for gifting history lovers.

Come visit us in person while you’re in Floyd. There’s a friendly docent awaiting. And visit our website year-round; it’s always open and you can shop from wherever you are!
