Herbal Adaptogens Workshop

July 18 : 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
$29

In this workshop, we will discuss what adaptogens are and how they work.  We will also cover some of the history, folklore, medicinal and cultural uses of Tulsi (Holy Basil), and each attendee will make their own Tulsi tincture.  Tulsi is sacred herb with a rich history rooted in Ayurvedic tradition. Revered for its adaptogenic properties, Tulsi helps the body adapt to stress and promotes balance. Its aromatic leaves, infused with a peppery, clove-like flavor, make it a tasty addition to teas and culinary creations. In Ayurvedic medicine, Tulsi is considered a tonic for the mind, body, and spirit. In western herbalism, it is used for its diverse therapeutic benefits, ranging from immune support to anti-inflammatory effects. Tulsi also serves as a symbol of connection to nature and holistic well-being. At I-Tal Acres we cultivate many different varieties of Tulsi, including Rama, Krishna, Vana, Kapoor, and Amrita.

The workshop would entail:

-Small Plant ID Walk and discussion in EcoVillage Learning Garden (weather permitting)

-Rules on Harvesting Sustainably and at peak potency

-Information session on herbal adaptogens, folk uses and history, especially Tulsi

-Tincture making class (Tinctures defined, why tinctures, how to make your own)
-Hands on – each attendee makes a tincture to bring home (will need to macerate and be pressed at home)- plant material for tincture making will be supplied by I-TAL Acres.
