Great Decisions 2017
April 10, 2017 : 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
A free community discussion series on U.S. Foreign Policy begins March 13th at 3:00 p.m. in the Community Room of Jessie Peterman Memorial Library. Great Decisions is America’s largest discussion program on world affairs. The program model involves reading the Great Decisions Briefing Book (this book may be found at JPML), watching an informative DVD and meeting in a discussion group to discuss the most critical global issues facing America today.
The Great Decisions program materials are prepared by the Foreign Policy Association. FPA develops background information and policy options for eight critical issues facing America each year and provides the text and videos for discussion groups across the country
A Briefing Book provides a 10-page overview for each topic. Each group meeting begins with a 30-minute video with information on the issues. A local resource person who is fluent in the month’s topic provides additional information and guides discussion.
Topics for 2017:
• The Future of Europe:
Coping with Crisis
• Trade, Jobs, and Politics
• Conflict in the South China Sea
• Saudi Arabia in Transition
• US Foreign Policy and Petroleum
• Latin America’s Political Pendulum
• Prospect for Afghanistan and Pakistan
• Nuclear Security: The Enduring

All Great Decisions discussions will be held on the second Monday of the month at 3:00 p.m. in the Community Room of Jessie Peterman Memorial Library.
