Floyd Wild Gardeners Meeting- includes speaker Barbara Pleasant

January 25, 2015 : 2:00 am - 5:00 pm

Garden author of Mother Earth News, Barbara Pleasant speaking in Floyd Jan. 25

The Floyd Wild Gardeners will have an open meeting at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 25 in the community room at the Jessie Peterman Memorial Library in Floyd, followed by a potluck meal. This loosely organized group with no officers or treasury has been meeting regularly since 2011 to share gardening interests that vary from intensive organic vegetable production to foraging wild plants.

The program for the Sunday afternoon meeting will focus on spring vegetable garden planning and enhancing habitat for monarch butterflies, two topics of great interest to the Wild Gardeners group.

Butterfly watchers who attend the meeting will share their observations from last year, and Pleasant will give information on the Monarch Waystation program, in which individual and groups grow plants that provide food and habitat for resident and migratory monarchs.Participants are asked to bring labeled seeds for the seed swap table, and small houseplants are welcome for sharing, too.

For the potluck, please bring all your own picnic utensils, plates, cups and plenty food to share
