Floyd Art Dialogue

June 5, 2015 : 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Rain or shine at Noon this Friday – FAD will go on at the Jacksonville Center if the Arts

Join us for an “illuminating” discussion on sequential art and graphic novels facilitated by Floyd librarian Joann Verostko.

Here are some links Joann provided to background information on the topic:

— Get Graphic – a good general introduction to what a graphic novel is. Aimed at teachers and librarians it looks at Graphic Novels as a literacy tool more than an art form, still has lots of good information: http://www.getgraphic.org

— Drawing Words & Writing Pictures – a website on reading, teaching, & making comics.  This link takes you to their introductory page on What is a “Graphic Novel?” presented in comic form. Lots more resources on this site: http://dw-wp.com/resources/what-is-a-graphic-novel/

— Scott McCloud’s TED talk.  He’s the author of Understanding Comics, a comic book about comics.  He’s an evangelist for comics as a valid literary form: http://www.ted.com/talks/scott_mccloud_on_comics#t-52025
