BBQ Done Right: Smoking Basics

Class Description: Do Bar-B-Que right! Join us for a day of smokin’ meat. Sam Wood will lead you through a day of meats, appetizers and even desserts that can be made with the use of a smoker. Tasting the foods made during the workshop is one of the best parts!  Types of meats that will be made during this workshop include brisket, chicken and pork shoulder; jalapenos and peaches will also be smoked for use in other dishes.  Participants will discuss uses of seasoning rubs, sauces and marinades, as well as types of smokers.  Sam, a certified KCBS judge, will also discuss what characteristics makes great quality BBQ.

Some portions of this workshop will be demonstration only, and other portions will be hands on, including preparation of foods, seasonings, tending the smoker and eating!

Minimum Age: Responsible Young Adult

Minimum Enrollment: 3, Maximum Enrollment: 20

Tuition: Jax Member $44 / Non Member $55
