Bats in Virginia: Myths, Monitoring & Management
May 26, 2018 : 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Karen E. Powers, Ph.D.; Certified Wildlife Biologist; Professor, Biology; Radford University, will tell all about Virginia’s bats; myths, monitoring, and management. Get to know the bat species of Virginia, their natural history (dispelling myths along the way) and current threats via a hands-on indoor presentation. Then, we will move outdoors (weather-permitting) to examine and test out a variety of traps, nets, and acoustic devices used to detect and capture bats. This is a family-friendly presentation, suitable for all ages.
