FAQs:
What can/can’t I bring to the event?
Please, no dogs or alcohol. You are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. The event site is a freshly mowed grass field.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Parking is available at On The Water, located about a half mile to the left as you come to the intersection of Slusher Store Road and Thunderstruck. Dedicated parking on flat land close to the administrative services table, food and music is reserved for those with disabilities.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
You can contact the Floyd County Chamber of Commerce at 540-745-4407 or info@floydchamber.org.
What happens to all ducks after they cross the finish line?
We have a “No duck left behind” policy. After the ducks pass the finish line, volunteers in kayaks along with waders in the river will retrieve all the ducks crossing the finish line that will be stopped by netting across the river past the finish line. Volunteers will also retrieve any ducks beached along the river banks or snagged by objects in the river. The course is approximately a half mile long. We are committed to being good stewards of the river! Ducks will be saved for use again next year.
Is this a fundraiser?
Yes, proceeds from this event will support the Floyd Visitor Center operated under a partnership between the Floyd County Chamber of Commerce and the Floyd Tourism Office. The Floyd Visitor Center serves both visitors and residents and the mission includes providing support to all Floyd County businesses.
