Oil paintings that imaginatively combine the human figure with the natural environment, plants, and animals.
Steven Kenny was born in 1962. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1984, spending his final year studying independently in Rome. His award-winning paintings are exhibited internationally and are in museum and private collections around the world. His surreal compositions most often combine the human figure with elements from nature, commenting on our interactions with the environment while symbolically alluding to the multi-faceted exploration of our individual, internal landscapes. Stylistically, Steven employs Old Master oil painting techniques to create images that are visually reminiscent of the Renaissance and Northern Baroque periods while being firmly rooted in the realm of Contemporary Surrealism.
