Appalachian Farm Flyer
This 19-mile route is ideal for beginners, offering a comfortable mix of terrain with 63% paved roads and 37% unpaved sections. It’s a great introduction to mixed-surface riding without being too demanding.
Strings & Spokes
This 29-mile route features 18 miles of paved roads and 11 miles of unpaved terrain, offering a true mixed-surface adventure. Riders will tackle a steady 6-mile climb gaining 1,186 feet, with scenic stretches along the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway. Don’t miss the chance to stop at the Rock Castle Gorge Overlook and The Saddle Overlook which both offer breathtaking views worth the pause.
Rocky Knob Classic
This 28-mile fully paved route takes riders from the Town of Floyd onto the Blue Ridge Parkway, heading south toward Rocky Knob. Along the way, you’ll pass several stunning overlooks and the Rocky Knob Recreation Area before looping back to town for a rewarding finish.
Floyd Freewheel
This 36-mile route features a balanced mix of 54% unpaved and 46% paved roads, with rolling climbs and descents throughout. Around mile 31, riders will pass the historic Pine Creek Mill, the last mill in Floyd County to grind grain using water power.
Zig-Zag Holler
This epic 67-mile adventure features a mix of terrain, with 60% unpaved roads and 40% smooth pavement. Riders will tackle a major climb of 1,296 feet around the halfway point - so save some energy for the ascent!
Fretboard Flyer
This 25-mile fully paved route is perfect for beginners, with gentle climbs and easy descents that make for a comfortable ride. A portion of the route winds along the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway, and around mile 9, riders can take a break at the Smart View Recreation Area, an ideal spot to relax or enjoy lunch with a scenic overlook.
Pickin' Pathway
This 24-mile route explores the scenic countryside northwest of the Town of Floyd. With 70% paved and 30% gravel surfaces, this route features a well-balanced mix of climbs and descents, including a few that will test your legs.
Harmony Holler
This scenic 33-mile route offers a rewarding mix of 63% unpaved and 37% paved roads, with stretches that run alongside the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway. Expect a few challenging climbs and thrilling descents along the way. Perfect for riders looking for a bit of adventure.
Wills Ridge Ramble
This 38-mile route blends 54% pavement with 46% gravel and takes riders on an adventurous journey up and over Wills Ridge twice. Just past the halfway point, as the route crosses Highway 221, riders can refuel with a snack or drink at Midway Grocery or Wildwood Farms General Store before continuing the ride back towards town.
The Floyd Traverse
This epic 151-mile loop traces the Floyd County line as closely as possible, linking together some of the best gravel the area has to offer. It’s a true all-day adventure for experienced riders looking to push their limits on a mix of rugged backroads and scenic stretches.

BIKE SAFETY TIPS:
- • Be a responsible bicyclist. Obey all traffic control devices and use proper hand signals.
- • Always ride with the flow of traffic.
- • Dress safely - wear a helmet, bright colored clothing, and secure loose pant legs.
- • Ride defensively - anticipate the actions of other road users and watch for road hazards.
- • Pass vehicles with extreme care as turning vehicles may not see you.
- • Be aware of motor vehicle blind spots whether while riding or stopped at an intersection.
- • Maximize your visibility at night. Wear reflective gear and add tape or lights to your bike.
- • Walk your bicycle when you get into traffic situations beyond your cycling abilities.
