Blue Mountain School 2nd Annual Summer Solstice Guided Night Hike
June 25 : 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
FreeBlue Mountain School’s 2nd annual Guided Night Hike will lift the veil of darkness and blend the spirit of adventure with the joy of learning.
Join the fun and step into the wild side with Field Biologist Eric Wolf and Blue Mountain School’s experienced teachers.
After the children have gone home for the day, Blue Mountain School’s woodland neighbors come out to play! Bats, owls, salamanders, cicadas, tree frogs, nightjars, and raccoons are just a few of the nocturnal neighbors that may make an appearance on the campus after the sun sets. Come visit Blue Mountain School’s campus and experience the heart and soul of outdoor learning in the New River Valley, where outdoor experiences shape the daily lives of students.
Bring along your water bottle, close-toed shoes, and a headlamp, along with your deer ears, owl eyes, and a spirit of wonder! We’ll begin our evening by meeting next to the Native Plant Garden for children’s activities and an introduction from our hike leader, Eric Wolf.
Eric has been a professional wildlife biologist for over 30 years, with project work spanning from Central and South America to across much of the United States. However, he is particularly proud to have lived, worked, and studied in the southern Appalachians for most of his life, developing intimate personal and professional connections with its biotic communities and cultural heritage.
