2023 NRV Wild Mushroom Foraging Workshop and Wild Mushroom Fungi-to-Table Dinner

Wild Mushroom Foraging Workshop – This workshop will focus on learning about the basic taxonomy of wild mushrooms for field identification. Participants will embark on a foray and explore the delectable and therapeutic fungi growing in our Blue Ridge bioregion, keying out species and discussing wild mushroom habitat and ecology. We will also offer a cooking demonstration to show participants a number of ways they can prepare and incorporate gourmet and therapeutic mushrooms into their diet and daily regimen.

Driftwood Catering Wild Mushroom Fungi-to-Table Dinner – Driftwood Catering will be creating some awesome wild mushroom dishes for this farm dinner. The bounty of the Blue Ridge Mountains’ edible wild fungi will be showcased along with the season’s cornucopia of vegetables, fruits and meat from local, small-family farms atop the Blue Ridge Plateau. Driftwood will be incorporating the abundance of summer’s sweet and savory flavors into an incredible mycophagic menu, complemented by a variety of delicious gourmet mushrooms and vegetable ferments. Dinner will be served alongside the water, in a beautiful, serene farm setting.
