It’s finally December, the long awaited month of Christmas is here! Floyd loves to get into the Holiday Spirit. We have different events throughout all of December. Some of our events are tradition at this point, whereas others are brand new this year. Make sure to give them all a try! We hope to see everyone come out and support each holiday event.
The Deer Park Holiday Bazaar- Sunday, December 4th
This is the very first time that Deer Park Farm has hosted a Holiday Bazaar. We hope that everyone comes from near or far and joins in on all the fun! The holiday event will be hosted by the June Bug center. Entertainment will be provided by Virginia Hollow! Fat Bean Taco will also be in attendance and ready to fill everyone’s bellies, while Sqeeze ‘um and Shake ‘um is there to quench your thirst with lemonade, hot chocolate or hot cider! They are expecting a good turn out. This is a great opportunity to shop local for your Christmas gifts.
Holiday Show at Floyd Country Store- December 17th
Join us at the Floyd Country Store on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 7:00 pm for a night of holiday cheer with husband-and-wife bluegrass sensation Darin & Brooke Aldridge & Friends. Tickets are $30, available for sale online and in the store.
Armed with the talents of the proverbial triple-threat of uniquely distinctive singing, commanding instrumental skills, and accomplished songwriting, Darin and Brooke continue to ascend to new heights in the industry while maintaining their easy-going, down-to-earth connection with audiences everywhere. Brooke is a four-time consecutive winner for Female Vocalist of the Year for the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA). She was nominated for a fifth time in 2021. Once a six-year member of The Country Gentlemen with the late Charlie Waller, Darin is a former IBMA Mentor of the Year and a truly gifted singer and multi-instrumentalist.
Anne Vaughn Holiday Open Studio – December 10th and 11th
Anne Vaughn is a local jewelry studio here in floyd. They are opening up their studio which is usually closed to the public, for a special holiday open studio event. You won’t want to miss out on this! It is a great opportunity to make a piece that your mother, sister, aunt, or grandma will love and cherish for many years. Enjoy good cheer, tasty hors d’oeuvres and festive drinks, including mulled cider as well as our holiday bourbon tasting!
Angels Christmas Store- Fridays and Saturdays
The Angels Christmas Store is a great place for holiday shopping. A greeter named SnowWhite Bear will be sitting on a chair as you enter. If you look around, you will also find the cute Stinky the Skunk happy to join your family. In the front entry, look up on the top shelf to find a carousel music box. These items, of course, are subject to prior sale and there is only one of each, as is the case with almost all items. There is a new layout this year with more shelving thanks to the wonder volunteers who help to put this event on each year. There is a limited number of decorated trees. Many choices of Christmas cards, wrapping paper, ribbons and bows, gift boxes, decorative bags, and tree ornaments.You may want to decorate your house with gift stockings to hang over the mantle, holiday candles, seasonally decorated cups, and even several sets of decorated china. Other house holiday cheer include cookie jars, a vertical rack of woven baskets, and miniature artificial trees for small kids to have their personal one. The Christmas Store is located on E Main St in Floyd VA (no mailing address), in the former Odd Fellows Lodge, which is next door to the Buffalo Hemp Company (located at 710 E. Main St in case you are using GPS on your cellphone or auto), on the opposite side of the street across from the CVS Floyd Pharmacy. Look for signs in front, and you can park on marked spaces at the street.
