Fancy Gap Hiking: New River Trail

We’ll be hiking four miles along the New River Trail to celebrate the opening of New River Trail Outfitters in Galax VA. After checking out the store on its opening day, we will walk 1/2 mile through downtown to get onto the trail at its terminus. A couple of blocks of the walk will be on the original Appalachian Trail before it was moved further west in the 1950’s. So would make Galax a former AT trail town!
