Introduction to Old Time Fiddle with Kalia Yeagle and Andrew Small

The Handmade Music School presents an introduction to Old Time Fiddle with Kalia Yeagle and Andrew Small on Sunday, July 21, 2019 from 11:00am – 1:00pm. Cost is $30.

This workshop will be beneficial to beginning and intermediate fiddlers as well as anyone who wishes to gain a foundational understanding of the functional, stylistic, and technical considerations inherent to old time fiddling. We will cover common keys, tunings, and repertoire as well as break down common rhythmic patterns that dictate dance-style fiddle bowing. Participants can expect to gain a basic understanding of rhythmic old time bowing and learn a few tunes from the common regional repertoire.
