Grand Opening of the EBase at Apple Ridge Farm
Sir Robert Swan is a polar explorer, environmental leader and the first person ever to have walked to the North and South poles. In 2008, Swan’s 5-year dream of building the world’s first educational base (E-Base) in Antarctica became a reality.
The E-Base is a sustainable green building constructed from post-consumer recycled and renewable materials. The E-Base is powered completely with wind and solar energy. “Here at our E-Base we are using green, innovative and sustainable materials and applying them to the cleanest, coldest place on earth. The E-Base will serve as a model globally and locally,” says Robert Swan.
Robert Swan will be the keynote speaker during the festivities and will share his inspiration for the first EBase in Antarctica.
