In 2026, Virginia will commemorate 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and here in Floyd, we’re proud to be part of that story.
The VA250 initiative marks America’s Semiquincentennial and highlights Virginia’s pivotal role in the founding of our nation. From the frontier spirit of the Blue Ridge to the voices of everyday citizens who shaped history, Floyd’s story reflects the resilience, independence, and community values that define both our county and our country.
What is VA250?
VA250 (the Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission) is leading the Commonwealth’s commemoration of the 250th anniversary of American independence. Through events, programs, and partnerships across the state, VA250 invites Virginians and visitors alike to reflect on our shared history while looking ahead to the next 250 years.
