Floyd Contra Dance

September 13th CONTRA DANCE in Floyd!
Just up Route 8 (at the top of the hill) beyond Dogtown is the beautiful Jacksonville Center barn (http://jacksonvillecenter.org/). Contra dance to the expert calling of Louie Cromartie and energized music of the Ivory Boys. 7:35 lesson; 8 p.m. dance.
The Ivory Boys with a long-standing reputation for innovative improvisations, sparkling melodies, and a solid approach to rhythm. We’ll dance our shoes off to to high acoustic energy and extraordinary instrumental prowess from band members George Paul on piano, David DiGiuseppe with accordion, and Jim Roberts on drums.
AND, Louie Cromartie, an active member of the Chapel Hill Callers’ Collective, will teach the dance figures as well as a beginner workshop before the dance. Louie calls contras and squares with great gusto and enthusiasm and, after 20 plus years, it still makes her heart race, gives her goose bumps, and makes her laugh–loudly
