250 Years of Music and Stories From American Women

Join Roanoke-based pianist Erica Ann Sipes in a celebration of America’s 250 through the musical creativity of some of America’s women composers. You’ll learn about Amy Beach, a child prodigy who saw colors when she hear music; Florence Price, whose music was performed by the country’s most prominent orchestras; Adeline Shepherd, whose piano rag became a trending presidential campaign song, and Teresa CarreƱo, who came over to the United States from Venezuela as an immigrant and performed in the White House as a young girl.
