Their music resonates with a powerful message delivered through a captivating and larger-than-life sound. Fueled by a thumping rhythm section that sets the groove\, the band’s rich horn arrangements\, performed by a robust horn section\, add an extra layer of depth to both their original compositions and compelling covers\, showcasing the evolution of ESB. \nFormed in 2012\, Empire Strikes Brass started as a group of friends who loved playing New Orleans-inspired second-line and funk tunes infused with elements of rock and jam. Over time\, they have transformed into a collective of incredibly talented musicians\, singers\, songwriters\, and producers. The result is a fresh and authentic sound that seamlessly combines their diverse musical influences while staying true to their roots. \nThe band boasts a remarkable lineup of artists\, each bringing their own unique contribution to the table. From the rich vocals\, and harmonious saxophone of Grammy Award-winning artist Debrissa McKinney (known for her work with Secret Agent 23 Skidoo) to the masterful keyboard and production skills of Lenny Pettinelli\, the thunderous beats of drummer Nik Hope\, the solid bass lines of JP Furnas\, the melodic guitar riffs of Chris Porter\, the soulful trumpet sounds of Alex Bradley\, and the sky high notes of Tim Morgan on trumpet\, the smooth trombone of Jacob Bruner\, the vibrant saxophone of Pauly Juhl\, and the versatile keyboard and percussion talents of Sean Donnelly\, every member of ESB plays a crucial role in the band’s success. \nSince their inception\, Empire Strikes Brass has become a staple at various festivals across the USA\, leaving a lasting impression with their infectious energy and electrifying performances. Their horn section has also had the honor of sharing the stage with esteemed acts like Shpongle Live Band\, Umphrey’s McGee\, Papadosio\, and many more iconic names in the funk and jam scene. \nWhether performing live or working on their studio recordings\, Empire Strikes Brass emanates a strength and cohesiveness that is undeniable. Their debut album\, “Theme For A Celebration\,” was recorded at the renowned Echo Mountain Recording Studio in Asheville and received acclaim as one of the top 100 releases of the year by WNCW 88.7 radio in 2017. Following that success\, their fierce follow-up release\, “Brassterpiece Theatre” (2019)\, was also recorded at Echo\, showcasing their continued growth and artistic prowess. Both albums are available on all major music distribution\, streaming\, sales\, and listening platforms\, allowing listeners to experience the band’s exceptional musicality. \nAs they continue to tour and captivate audiences\, Empire Strikes Brass is diligently working on their highly anticipated third studio album. Between shows\, they are crafting and mastering new sounds that will undoubtedly leave their fans craving for more. Keep an eye out for this remarkable band on the road and at festivals near you. SUMMARY:Freak Rangers
DESCRIPTION:Free show ~ \nFreak Rangers is finding the groove from the past and taking it further. Jay Gladden and Matt Leonard join Bradley Carr\, Timbo Sims and John McBroom to continue the journey that Red Weather started in the early ‘90s. We look forward to more Homespun Psychedelic Fun!!!!!! \nSOME BAND HISTORY \nThree-fifths of the Freak Rangers come from a band named Red Weather; Bradley\, John and Timbo. Red Weather toured from 1993 to 1999 and released 3 projects before coming off the road and played occasionally till the passing of drummer Thomas Wilson in 2015. Since then the three have played together in a few other projects and sat-in a lot with each other’s more recent projects. \nOver the last decade they talked a lot about bringing Red Weather’s music back\, but life always seemed to lead to other opportunities. Well\, with a little coaxing and a lot of intent the three primary writers of Red Weather have reunited to play and see what happens. They are only able to undergo such a daring adventure with their new bandmates and rhythm section\, Jay Gladden and Matt Leonard.

SUMMARY:JP Harris
DESCRIPTION:**TICKET SHOW** (see below for more info) \nOur friend JP Harris is coming back and he’s bringing his (trash) FIRE! Join us for a fun and special night with one of our most treasured artists for his latest album release tour! \nJP HARRIS \nJP Harris was born shortly\, and fortunately\, a few minutes before Valentine’s Day 1983 in Montgomery\, Alabama. Within a handful of years he was wearing a green velour tracksuit and leading a large Doberman around for street credibility\, at the young age of three. He had a charm and strut that would take him far\, so the grown folks said; but roughly a decade later\, on the opposite side of the country\, he would leave his family’s home late one summer night with no designs on fame\, fortune\, or clothing endorsements\, never to return.\nHe had an inkling that the eighth grade was enough education for where he was headed\,and set a course for Anywhere\, USA. Turns out he was right. \nSpending most of his teenage years traveling by freight train\, thumb\, or foot\, he would set down his rucksack for what he thought was the last time in rural northern New England\, shortly after the anticlimactic event known as Y2K came to pass without much to-do. He spent the next decade living in remote cabins lacking the modern appointments of power\, running water\, or winter road access.\nIt was there Harris honed the many trades he’d learned: sheepherder\, logger\, heavy equipment operator\, farm laborer\, restoration carpenter\, and sometimes as contraband handler\, while his musical palette expanded beyond the punk rock of his youth to include the Early American Folk Canon of blues\, old time\, and early country recordings. \nJP had long fashioned himself a carpenter who did halfway-decent campfire renditions of old country tunes\, but turned suddenly to songwriting in his mid twenties after years without the slightest ambition toward “music business” of any sort. He would assemble a band\, trade his work truck for an old Econoline van\, and fifteen years would elapse before he would reluctantly add the term “professional” in front of his title of “musician.” \nIn 2011\, Harris loaded his van and trailer with every tool\, guitar\, and keepsake he could cram and moved to Nashville TN\, shortly before the release of his debut album “I’ll Keep Calling\,” which would win him countless accolades from various outlets and entities unheard of by the general masses. It was enough praise to keep him on the road\, even if his largest reward garnered at the time was a sizable box of Taco Bell gift cards.\nHe would go on to record 2014’s “Home Is Where The Hurt Is\,” 2018’s “Sometimes Dogs Bark At Nothing\,” and 2021’s Appalachian banjo-centric side project album “Don’t You Marry No Railroad Man\,” under the moniker JP Harris’ Dreadful Wind & Rain. \nJP HARRIS IS A TRASH FIRE \nJP’s historic restoration carpentry has continued to be a baseline for his relationship to music; the yin to his yang\, the Burt to his Ernie\, the Dolly to his Porter. It was through this concurrent line of work that he met another twice-initialed singer with a penchant for old Americana music\, obscure film\, and overly elaborate ethnic meal preparations: one JD McPherson. The two became fast friends and would eventually\, through many twists\, turns\, false starts\, and biblically-proportionate plagues\, enter a modest studio in Nashville to record Harris’ latest album “JP Harris Is A Trash Fire.” \nOver the course of nine months in 2023\, they recorded a sometimes lush\, sometimes sparse\, and sometimes jarring country album of Harris’ originals\, loudly and violently squelching any attempt to pigeon-hole a song into any subgenre of country music. Only albums by Lee Hazelwood and an obscure folk album Waylon Jennings made when his hair was still short were allowed to be mentioned in reference. Featuring the guest vocals of Erin Rae\, The Watson Twins\, Shovels & Rope\, and producer JD McPherson himself\, the record is equal parts satire\, reflection\, and apology to those that would listen. \nIn a musical landscape of period-correct reproduction\, “outlaw” internet posturing\, and flavor-of-the-month variants on country\, “JP Harris Is A Trash Fire” burns bright as a dumpster ablaze in a Walmart parking lot on a moonless night; some will fear it\, some will gravitate to its acrid warmth\, and most will have no idea what to make of the situation.\nHarris has been steadily elbowing the definitive boundaries of “country music” wider with every album\, both sonically and lyrically\, and his latest piece of self described “Avant-Country” is no exception. Even within the rapidly growing world of “underground” country music\, Harris still considers himself an outsider\, content to inhabit a gray area where punk rock ethos\, folk art aesthetic\, and the workingman’s ballad mingle. \nWhen he’s not touring\, JP Harris can be found fixing historic houses\, riding old motorcycles\, or picking through scrap piles for useable refuse. \nALBUM:  JP Harris Is A Trash Fire \nJP Harris Official Website \nJP Harris Facebook \nJP Harris Instagram \nJP Harris Twitter \n••• \n**TICKET SHOW** \nGA Early Bird: $20 (+fees) through 6/20 at 11:59pm (online only) \nGA Day of show: $25 (+fees) 6/21 (day of show at the door only) \n*Table tickets available* \nDoors: 7pm || Show: 8pm \nTickets are non-refundable.

SUMMARY:Joslyn & The Sweet Compression
DESCRIPTION:**Ticket Show** \nJoslyn & The Sweet Compression are bona fide\, and they want the world to know it. \nA rising force out of Lexington\, Kentucky\, the band led by Joslyn Hampton come out swinging on their sophomore album\, ready to uplift and inspire through their singular and stirring soul-funk sound. 2019’s critically acclaimed debut album made them a favorite headliner at regional clubs and music festivals. After a grueling and relentless tour schedule – one that saw them supporting Tower of Power at New York’s Sony Hall and Tyler Childers at Colorado’s legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre – the band are back with Bona Fide\, a sonically and emotionally charged record that captures their breathtaking live energy as well as their humanity. \nReleased August 25\, 2023\, Bona Fide is a resounding testament to Joslyn & The Sweet Compression’s unparalleled talents\, as well as an homage to the band’s co-founder (and Joslyn Hampton’s step-father)\, Marty Charters\, who passed away in 2022. \nMusically\, Bona Fide blends soulful and smoldering neo-funk with elements of ‘70s and ‘80s R&B. Hampton pulls from her inspirations – Aretha Franklin\, Chaka Khan\, Whitney Houston\, and Mariah Carey – as well as from the opera singers she studied in college. “I find myself applying all of the things I’ve learned to my passion now\, and placing it in my music\,” she shares. \nThe result is a unique\, hooky style that helps Joslyn & The Sweet Compression stand apart from their contemporaries. To Hampton\, Bona Fide is a record about a ride she calls “the human rollercoaster.” \n“You have falling in love\, getting cheated on\, celebrating this life – you only get one\,” she says. “We go through so many human emotions on this album\, and that’s what I want to bring to life: The ride of being a human! I want to take you to the moment you found the love of your life when you looked across the room. This album is literally meant to take you to every human emotion you have.” \n“I want them to see themselves in my songs and inspire them to be the best version of themselves.” \nJoslyn & The Sweet Compression are Bona Fide\, ready to bring their love and joy to audiences everywhere. \n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ \n“Magical…gives everybody the joy.”\n– Billboard Magazine \n“A refreshing take on the neo-soul / funk sound\, unbound by modern cliches.”\n– Glide Magazine \n“A marvel…an instant classic!”\n– Soul Tracks \n“I’ve never seen a band come up more quickly…with more immediate skill and swagger than Joslyn & the Sweet Compression. Joslyn’s vocal command and stage presence is special\, and her band is brick-sh**house tight.”\n– Travis Young\, Moonshiner’s Ball \n“The music Joslyn Hampton conjures onstage is rich with the funk\, soul\, and rock ’n’ roll inspirations of multiple generations\, and at the heart of the brassy attack of her band\, The Sweet Compression\, and in the clear and confident command of her singing\, sits a core element: Groove.”\n– Walter Tunis\, Lexington Herald-Leader \n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ \nGeneral Admission (GA) tickets only. \nGA tickets at a special advance price until 4/24 11:59pm. Full price day of show at the door. \nFRIDAY 4/25  | Doors 7pm | Show 8-11pm
