DESCRIPTION:The Handmade Music School is excited to announce the 4th Annual Floyd Youth Get Together Camp for kids aged 7 – 13. This amazing 5-day traditional music and dance summer camp will take place Monday\, July 7 – Friday\, July 11\, 2025. Tuition is $300. Each additional sibling will receive a 10% discount ($270). Families may apply for financial support through the Handmade Music School’s Share the Music Scholarship Program. \nThe Floyd Youth Get Together Camp is a fun-filled week immersed in the traditional music and dance of Southwest Virginia. Our camp offers exciting and interactive classes in fiddle\, clawhammer banjo\, guitar\, mandolin\, singing\, and dance. Morning and afternoon sessions feature instruction\, performance\, presentations and enrichment activities with visiting musicians. Our camp is geared towards 7 – 13 year old students who are beginning their musical journey are are looking to discover the joy and community found in the local music and dance traditions. \nThe camp takes place at the Floyd Event Center at The Floyd EcoVillage. The facility features a beautiful and secluded setting on 75 private acres just a few miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and the charming town center of Floyd. SUMMARY:In Concert With Nature
DESCRIPTION:Virginia’s Blue Ridge Music Festival will sponsor a live performance of Vivaldi’s beloved “Four Seasons” complete concerto with poetry. This special concert features the Virtuoso String Orchestra conducted by Maestro David Stewart Wiley\, artistic director\, and conductor of the Roanoke Symphony. Internationally renowned violinist Akemi Takayama will be featured with the orchestra. Palladio by Karl Jenkins and Holberg Suite by Edward Grieg will also be performed. The festival will continue on Monday 6:30pm with emerging young musicians from the area\, students of Mike Mitchell and Julee Hickox with the performance concluding with Wiley and Takayama playing well known repertoire.
