SUMMARY:May Moto Weekend
DESCRIPTION:May Moto Weekend @ Crooked Mountain! Get ready for a weekend of riding and camping at Crooked Mountain. Located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway and only 4 miles from downtown Floyd; Crooked Mountain is a great place to set up a base camp\, ride\, and explore some awesome southwest Virginia backroads. Come camp this weekend and explore the area while testing out your moto camping and navigation skills.\nWhether you’re a seasoned rider or a newbie\, this event is perfect for all levels of experience. Connect with like-minded individuals\, swap stories\, and make memories out riding and hanging around a campfire that will last a lifetime. We will have self-guided ride routes and area info available on our mapboards outside of the store for dual sport and road riders. All dual sport routes are big bike friendly.\nWe’ve blocked this weekend off on our Hipcamp site so campsites can only be reserved on Eventbrite for this weekend. Tickets for the weekend cover camping only. We’re keeping ticket prices low for this one to encourage motorcycle camping and riding in the area. We offer primitive campsites with some basic amenities. Cost of ticket is per tent for field camping and per site for creekside (see options available)\nThere will be food trucks onsite throughout the weekend for lunch and dinner. We also encourage everyone to explore other establishments in Floyd for breakfast (we’ll provide some great recommendations). We’re no cooks but we still want to make sure you get some great local food.\nThis is meant to be an easy weekend to get everyone out camping and riding to kickoff the summer riding season. All bikes must have tags and insurance

SUMMARY:Gravel Camp
DESCRIPTION:Join Cardinal Bicycle for a weekend of gravel\, fun\, and friends! This is not a race—just a fun supported ride. \nWe will have aid stations on course\, and our short and medium routes will be marked. Riders taking on the Grande Traverse will need a GPS and be able to self-navigate—this route will not be fully marked. \nThe Venue: \nCrooked Mountain Campground is a cozy and quiet camp spot just a few miles from downtown Floyd. Make it a weekend and stay the night. Book your camping directly with Crooked Mountain. \nThe Scene: \nWe will have post-ride music from LowBrow Collective\, and the Driftwood Catering food truck will be onsite for post ride food. Stay for Saturday evening bonfires\, stargazing\, s’mores\, good times and camp shenanigans. \nThe Routes:   \n\nFloyd Piccolo Ramble: This is a beginner-friendly 16-mile gravel route\, but gravel is inherently challenging and so is this route. Riders should be comfortable with rides of at least 2.5 hours with some climbing. Riders who are not quite at that level should consider joining Cardinal Bicycle’s Tuesday ride to prepare or come to Gravel Camp Bedford for a shorter route to get started. This Floyd route is almost entirely unpaved and will have one aid station.\nFloyd Medio Mountain Wander: This 30-mile route travels through scenic rolling farmland. Some of the climbs can get steep\, but the route is fun and flows well. This ride is mostly gravel\, and it will have one aid station.\nFloyd Grande Traverse: Route coming soon! Expect about 50-60 miles of Floyd’s finest gravel (it’s all pretty fine in Floyd). Riders taking on this route should crave adventure\, and also be self-sufficient. As such\, the route will not be fully marked. Riders must have GPS and be able to self-navigate. This route will have two aid stations.\n\nNot sure what route is right for you? Email with questions–you can also switch your entry at any time before registration closes. \nSchedule: \n\n8:00 a.m.: Rider Check-in begins\n9:00 a.m.: Grande Traverse Riders Depart\n10:00 a.m.: Piccolo and Medio Riders Depart\n12:00 p.m.: Lunch available for purchase\n\nWeather & Refunds: \nWe will ride rain or shine–the Floyd gravel rides great in all conditions! Riders will have the option to buy event insurance at checkout\, which allows you to cancel your entry for covered reasons. \nIncluded with your entry: \n\nWell-stocked aid stations\nMechanic support\nFully marked courses for Piccolo and Medio riders\nPost-ride music from LowBrow Collective\nThe best routes we could find!

SUMMARY:Earth Day on the Farm @ Crooked Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Come visit beautiful Crooked Mountain’s farm for a free educational event focusing on small farm conservation\, with special emphasis on water. Small farm conservation experts and resources from Virginia State University’s Small Farm Outreach Program\, Virginia Tech\, and other local farm resources will be on hand to answer questions about farming\, conservation\, and on-farm water retention. A presentation at 2:30 will be followed by a guided tour of the pond\, campground\, and cut flower field plans for this year. \nIn the last two years\, Brian and Christy Corbett have developed Crooked Mountain into a multi-purpose recreation and flower farm. They recently added a spring-fed agricultural pond to their campground area. A second small retention pond will provide water for pick-your-own sunflowers\, zinnias\, and other flowers. Crooked Mountain includes an art-filled store\, campground\, stream\, pond\, and hiking trails for registered guests. Learn more at CrookedMtn.com.
