DESCRIPTION:The Handmade Music School is excited to announce the 2nd Annual “Teen Week” Floyd Youth Get Together Camp for kids aged 14 – 18. This amazing 5-day traditional music and dance summer camp takes place Monday\, June 30 – Friday\, July 4\, 2025 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm with additional evening activities each night! Tuition is $400. Each additional sibling will receive a 10% discount ($360). Families may apply for financial support through the Handmade Music School’s Share the Music Scholarship Program. \nHandmade Teen Week Camp is a fun-filled week immersed in the traditional music and dance of Southwest Virginia. Our camp offers exciting and interactive classes in fiddle\, clawhammer banjo\, guitar\, mandolin\, singing\, and dance. Morning and afternoon sessions features instruction\, performance\, presentations and enrichment activities with visiting musicians.The camp is geared towards intermediate and advanced students who are looking to take a deep dive into music and dance. DESCRIPTION:Every Sunday afternoon The Floyd Country Store comes alive with community music during our old time and bluegrass music jams. Bring your instrument and join in the music or grab some food and be our audience! The jam is open and free for everyone. \n12:00pm – 1:00pm: Old-Time Beginner Jam in the Floyd Country Store Community Room\n1:30pm – 3:30pm: Old-Time Music Jam\n4:00pm – 5:30pm: Bluegrass Jam \nJoin us for old time beginner jams from 12:00 to 1:00 in the Floyd Country Store Community Room. The old time jam session starts at 1:30 and is hosted by a different string band each week\, leading tunes at a moderate speed. Traditional instruments and dancers welcome! At 4:00 the bluegrass jam kicks off\, with hosts who lead the group in bluegrass songs and tunes. Song selections and solos pass around the circle. Sunday Music Jams are a great way to see traditional music the way it has been played and handed down for centuries\, amongst friends and family in a community setting.

DESCRIPTION:The Handmade Music School is excited to announce the 4th Annual Floyd Youth Get Together Camp for kids aged 7 – 13. This amazing 5-day traditional music and dance summer camp will take place Monday\, July 7 – Friday\, July 11\, 2025. Tuition is $300. Each additional sibling will receive a 10% discount ($270). Families may apply for financial support through the Handmade Music School’s Share the Music Scholarship Program. \nThe Floyd Youth Get Together Camp is a fun-filled week immersed in the traditional music and dance of Southwest Virginia. Our camp offers exciting and interactive classes in fiddle\, clawhammer banjo\, guitar\, mandolin\, singing\, and dance. Morning and afternoon sessions feature instruction\, performance\, presentations and enrichment activities with visiting musicians. Our camp is geared towards 7 – 13 year old students who are beginning their musical journey are are looking to discover the joy and community found in the local music and dance traditions. \nThe camp takes place at the Floyd Event Center at The Floyd EcoVillage. The facility features a beautiful and secluded setting on 75 private acres just a few miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and the charming town center of Floyd. DESCRIPTION:Henry Hardt’s Mudcats are Jeff Liverman\, Jeremia Dwier\, Barb Gillespie\, Ray Braley and Will Norton. The band sings and plays Piedmont and old time street blues\, reveling in music penned earlier in the 20th century\, from Charlie Pool to Muddy Water to Robert Johnson and the Mississippi Sheiks. The Mudcat’s specialize in illuminating the influence that old style street music including blues and jug band sounds had on modern Rock and Roll. They play songs made popular by such artists as Rolling Stones\, Bob Dylan\, Nirvanas and Eric Clapton but they play in the style of the original recordings from the 1920s and 30s. Henry Hardt’s Mudcats are a fun\, danceable look back at some of the most influential music of the last three generations.
