At 4:00 the bluegrass jam kicks off\, with hosts who lead the group in bluegrass songs and tunes. Song selections and solos pass around the circle. Sunday Music Jams are a great way to see traditional music the way it has been played and handed down for centuries\, amongst friends and family in a community setting.

Located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway and only 4 miles from downtown Floyd; Crooked Mountain is a great place to set up a base camp\, ride\, and explore some awesome southwest Virginia backroads. Come camp this weekend and explore the area while testing out your moto camping and navigation skills.\nWhether you’re a seasoned rider or a newbie\, this event is perfect for all levels of experience. Connect with like-minded individuals\, swap stories\, and make memories out riding and hanging around a campfire that will last a lifetime. We will have self-guided ride routes and area info available on our mapboards outside of the store for dual sport and road riders. All dual sport routes are big bike friendly.\nWe’ve blocked this weekend off on our Hipcamp site so campsites can only be reserved on Eventbrite for this weekend. Tickets for the weekend cover camping only. We’re keeping ticket prices low for this one to encourage motorcycle camping and riding in the area. We offer primitive campsites with some basic amenities. Cost of ticket is per tent for field camping and per site for creekside (see options available)\nThere will be food trucks onsite throughout the weekend for lunch and dinner. We also encourage everyone to explore other establishments in Floyd for breakfast (we’ll provide some great recommendations). We’re no cooks but we still want to make sure you get some great local food.\nThis is meant to be an easy weekend to get everyone out camping and riding to kickoff the summer riding season. DESCRIPTION:Come sing with us! \nShape note is an American tradition of unaccompanied harmony singing with roots that stretch back into the Colonial period. It takes its name from the musical notation system to aid in sight-singing where notes are written on the page with different shapes\, each corresponding to the degree of the scale. \nTunebooks we sing from are The Sacred Harp (1991 Denson edition)\, The Shenandoah Harmony\, and The Valley Pocket Harmonist. Loaner books are available. \nAll are welcome\, and the singings are free — no experience with sheet music or singing necessary!

Bring your instrument and join in the music or grab some food and be our audience! The jam is open and free for everyone. \n12:00pm – 1:00pm: Old-Time Beginner Jam in the Floyd Country Store Community Room\n1:30pm – 3:30pm: Old-Time Music Jam\n4:00pm – 5:30pm: Bluegrass Jam \nJoin us for old time beginner jams from 12:00 to 1:00 in the Floyd Country Store Community Room. The old time jam session starts at 1:30 and is hosted by a different string band each week\, leading tunes at a moderate speed. Traditional instruments and dancers welcome! At 4:00 the bluegrass jam kicks off\, with hosts who lead the group in bluegrass songs and tunes. Song selections and solos pass around the circle. Sunday Music Jams are a great way to see traditional music the way it has been played and handed down for centuries\, amongst friends and family in a community setting.

Tickets are $20 general admission\, $25 reserved seating\, available for sale online and in the store. \n\nAmanda Cook\, now entering her eleventh year as the leader of the Amanda Cook Band\, has left an indelible mark on the bluegrass scene. Originally from Jay\, Florida\, Cook’s passion for bluegrass was ignited by her father\, with whom she played in a band during the mid-2000s. With her down-to-earth style\, profound connection with her audience\, and distinctive vocal range\, she quickly achieved popularity. \nFueling a fire to record and tour professionally\, Cook made the move to the Mountains of Virginia\, to not only sign a long term 5 album contract with record label Mountain Fever Records\, but also to work there as an engineer. \nThe band’s fifth studio album\, “Restless Soul\,” debuted at the number two spot on the Billboard Bluegrass Album chart in October 2024\, coinciding with the band’s continued presence at festivals and top venues nationwide. \nIn 2022\, Amanda was promoted to Chief Operation Officer of Mountain Fever Records where she continues to oversee operations of the label. In 2024\, Cook was chosen as one of 25 distinct members of the bluegrass community to serve in the International Bluegrass Music Association’s annual Bluegrass Leadership program. \nThe Amanda Cook Band is comprised of: Troy Boone (Sideline\, Boone & Foster) who shines on mandolin\, vocals\, and emcee duties.
