SUMMARY:Herbal Infused Oils & Salve Making Class
DESCRIPTION:Applying herbs topically\, as infused oils or salves\, is one of the many ways we can utilize herbs for health and healing.  We will discuss several methods of extracting herbs in oil and how to do so\, including a demonstration preparing an herb for oil extraction.  These infused herbal oils can be used as is\, or made into healing herbal salves.  We will collectively make an herbal salve in class\, and each attendee will take home a container of salve made in the class. \nThe workshop would entail: \n-Small Plant ID Walk and discussion in EcoVillage Learning Garden (weather permitting) \n-Rules on Harvesting Sustainably and at peak potency \n-Oils/Salve making class & notes\n-Hands on – each attendee will take home a jar of salve made in class. Note- depending on weather and availability of herbs\, plant material for salve making will either be supplied by I-TAL Acres or we will harvest them onsite as needed.\n-Demonstration of how to make an infused herbal oil. \n-Info on how to make tinctures.

DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, we will discuss what adaptogens are and how they work.  We will also cover some of the history\, folklore\, medicinal and cultural uses of Tulsi (Holy Basil)\, and each attendee will make their own Tulsi tincture.  Tulsi is sacred herb with a rich history rooted in Ayurvedic tradition. Revered for its adaptogenic properties\, Tulsi helps the body adapt to stress and promotes balance. Its aromatic leaves\, infused with a peppery\, clove-like flavor\, make it a tasty addition to teas and culinary creations. In Ayurvedic medicine\, Tulsi is considered a tonic for the mind\, body\, and spirit. In western herbalism\, it is used for its diverse therapeutic benefits\, ranging from immune support to anti-inflammatory effects. Tulsi also serves as a symbol of connection to nature and holistic well-being. SUMMARY:Liberty Tea- Kidney & Urinary Tract Class & Goldenrod Tincture Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This class will focus on the kidneys\, urinary tract\, the organs involved\, and how to use herbs to soothe\, tonify\, and clear-up infections.  Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) are any bacterial infections of the bladder\, urethra\, or kidneys\, and are common in men\, women\, and children.  They are also one of the number one reasons antibiotics are prescribed.  One of the most plentiful\, beautiful\, yellow\, late summer herbs by roadsides and fields is the amazing Goldenrod.  We will take an in-depth look at the history\, folklore\, and medicinal uses of Goldenrod; and everyone will get to make a Goldenrod tincture to take home. \n(Among other uses – Goldenrod is a soothing tonic for the entire genito-urinary tract; useful as diuretic and antiseptic for treating bladder/kidney infections.)\nFYI – Goldenrod has a reputation for causing hay fever\, but allergies are rarely caused by insect-pollinated plants\, as their pollen is too big and heavy to get into your respiratory system. More inconspicuous wind-pollinated plants tend to be the problem. SUMMARY:Plant Propagation Class
DESCRIPTION:We will be learning how to propagate plants by cutting\, dividing\, and layering.  Every participant will get to ‘make’ their own plants that they get to take home.  Possible plants (among others) we may be propagating include:  Comfrey\, Tulsi\, Skullcap\, Bee-Balm\, Peppermint\, Spearmint\, Moroccan mint\, Jiao-gu-lan\, Elderberry\, Red Currant\, and others (though layered plants are example only).\nPrice is $29/person and includes instruction\, potting materials\, plants\, emailed notes\, and a garden tour.  Each participant will bring home at least 5 plants – over $25 value in plants alone!  Plant more herbs!
