Traditional and contemporary instrumentals and vocals from Ireland\, Scotland and Canada including beautiful slow airs\, waltzes\, lively jigs\, reels\, Scottish marches and strathspeys will delight the audience and get your toes tapping. Musicians are Katherine Wiley\, Fiddle; David Scheim\, Harp and Piano\, Geoffrey Sauer\, Pipes\, and Ash Devine\, Vocals. These extraordinary musicians will entertain us on Sunday March 16\, 2:30pm at The Presbyterian Church of Floyd. Admission for students is free and adults are $15.00 in advance at virginiasblueridgemusicfestival.org and at the door. DESCRIPTION:Come sing with us! \nShape note is an American tradition of unaccompanied harmony singing with roots that stretch back into the Colonial period. It takes its name from the musical notation system to aid in sight-singing where notes are written on the page with different shapes\, each corresponding to the degree of the scale. \nTunebooks we sing from are The Sacred Harp (1991 Denson edition)\, The Shenandoah Harmony\, and The Valley Pocket Harmonist. Loaner books are available. \nAll are welcome\, and the singings are free — no experience with sheet music or singing necessary!
