SUMMARY:Tour de Floyd
DESCRIPTION:Red Rooster is reviving the Tour de Floyd\, a popular annual metric century (100km) bike ride to raise funds for Blue Mountain School\, a 44-year old contemplative progressive school in Floyd\, VA. The ride will take place on Saturday\, May 17th\, with a starting time of 8:30am for the traditional route. In addition to the “Classic\,” there will also be four other routes available ranging from the “Dirty” all gravel ride to a short 5k for young bike enthusiasts. \nThis year’s ride will be starting at the Floyd Eco Village located at 188 Eco Village Trail\, Floyd VA just outside the Town of Floyd. Red Rooster Coffee will welcome all riders with a complimentary breakfast and coffee upon arrival\, as well as a full espresso bar. Start the ride with freshly brewed\, locally-roasted coffee\, alongside a selection of delicious and energizing quick eats. Blue Mountain School is also excited to host 5 aid stations. The aid stations along the race routes will embody the spirit of Blue Mountain School. Each class from Blue Mountain School will take ownership of a station\, providing a unique experience as riders stop to refuel and recharge. From class themed decorations to refreshing treats\, including the old classic “cookie station”\, each aid station will provide a memorable boost to keep riders motivated and connect them to the Blue Mountain School community. \nRegistration is available online at www.BikeReg.com/tour-de-floyd-2025 through May 16th\, with early-bird pricing available until March 31st. For the first time in Southwest Virginia\, the best yarn spinner will be crowned at the Liars Contest\, Nov. 16\, in Floyd\, Virginia\, at the June Bug Center. The contest starts at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free. The winner will receive a $100 cash prize and a golden shovel to honor their storytelling prowess.“Liars contests are taking off around the country\,” said Clint Atwater\, founder of Storytelling ConnectIons\, LLC\, and Let Me Tell Ya! events\, which produced the show. “Audiences love the outlandish tales and unforgettable stories. You have to wonder\, are the tellers stretching the truth or all-out lying?” Atwater said any family friendly topic is fair game\, including fish stories\, aliens\, “strike it rich\,” ghosts and vacation adventures. “I’m pretty excited about what the contestants will come up with.”\nContestants of all ages pay $10 to enter. They’re required to preregister through Eventbrite\nat https://Inyurl.com/mtuh47ay. DESCRIPTION:The New River Theatre Guild proudly presents Toil and Trouble at the Midnight Masquerade! \n🎭✨ Join us for Toil and Trouble at the Midnight Masquerade at The June Bug Center! 🌙👑 \nGet ready for a night of mystery\, magic\, and mayhem as our talented cast brings this spellbinding show to life. You won’t want to miss the drama\, laughs\, and unexpected twists at the masquerade! We can’t wait for you to come be a part of The Midnight Council! Everyone is encouraged to dress up but it is not required. This will be an interactive show\, but for those of you who would rather not be interactive don’t fret.
