DESCRIPTION:The first ever Blue Mountain School Donor Appreciation Brunch and Fundraiser will be held on Sunday\, October 6th at 11am and hosted by Red Rooster Coffee in Floyd\, Virginia. \nThe Board of Directors wishes to invite the community to celebrate Blue Mountain School as a leader of alternative education in our region. Additionally\, the brunch will provide an excellent opportunity to learn about the history and recognize the decades long commitment the school has made to the young minds and hearts of our community. As it enters its forty-third academic school year\, Blue Mountain School invites the community to share a meal and conversation with the school’s administrators\, staff\, Board Members and school community members. \n“We want to celebrate the generous connections that have cultivated an ecosystem of support\,” says Director Tammie Sarver\, “from our ancient roots to our new budding community\, and the slow growth along the way.” \nJoin the school wide community and explore the organization through story and presentation; hear the exciting and ambitious plans for growth; and cheer with the Blue Mountain School community as they show their deepest gratitude to the donors whose past\, present and future generosity roots the school in its place. \nThe food and coffee will be prepared by the Red Rooster staff and feature local ingredients along with espresso based drinks at a cash bar. SUMMARY:Floyd Living Traditions Festival
DESCRIPTION:Known for its bluegrass and old-time music\, along with a lively arts scene\, Floyd\, Virginia\, will celebrate its rich artistic heritage on Saturday\, August 24\, 2024\, with the Floyd Living Traditions Festival. The festival\, hosted by the Floyd Center for the Arts in partnership with the Floyd Country Store’s Handmade Music School\, will feature music on two stages and fun for the whole family. More than 70 artists will be on hand to perform\, offer works for sale\, and demonstrate Floyd traditions such as quilting\, spinning\, instrument making\, weaving\, blacksmithing\, woodworking\, and basketmaking. Food trucks\, an outdoor beer garden\, kids activities\, and opportunities to learn and create firsthand await! Saturday’s all-day event takes place both inside and out at the dairy barn campus of the Floyd Center for the Arts located at 220 Parkway Lane South (VA-8) on the edge of downtown. Admission to the festival is free on Saturday.
