George Slusher\, Joel Pratt\, and Charlie Thompson (plus others) will be kicking things off with a special performance from Willard Gayheart and Ricky Cox to follow at 5:00. This event is in conjunction with the Give Local NRV Day of Giving…all donations go toward building a new space for sharing more of Floyd County’s culture.

SUMMARY:Summer Printmaking Camp for Teens
DESCRIPTION:Sourced Press is offering a week-long camp for teens that will center on creating a final print project inspired by the change you wish to see in the world. We’ll begin by learning a range of techniques\, including letterpress\, screenprinting\, relief printing\, zine making\, and bookmaking. Ultimately\, participants will select one or more technique(s) to concentrate on\, culminating in a project we aim to share with the world. Minimum of five participants for this camp. \nFOR AGES 13 to 17\nDATES/TIMES: Monday\, June 17th to Friday\, June 21st\, 2024\, 10AM to 3PM\nWe will break for lunch at 11:30\, please bring a packed lunch.\nOn Friday\, June 21st at 2pm: Families are invited and encouraged to join us for final sharing. \nCOST: Pay-it-forward rate of $300 or Sustainer rate of $200* \n*No one is turned away for lack of funds. DESCRIPTION:Old Church Gallery proudly presents our 2024 exhibit “There’s the Buffalo!” Over twenty local artists share their personal visions of Floyd County’s legendary Buffalo Mountain using textiles\, photography\, painting\, and glasswork. Also included in the exhibit are memories of early 20th Century life around Buffalo Mountain taken from 1999-2001 interviews with longtime residents.\nAs the Cultural Arts Museum for Floyd County\, our permanent exhibit spaces are filled with glimpses of life here from prehistoric stone tools to contemporary sculptures.\nWe’re at 110 Wilson Street (between Finders Keepers and Hotel Floyd) with ample parking and walking access off the town Heritage Trail. Admission is free.

SUMMARY:Earth First & Art of Beekeeping Exhibitions Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Floyd Center for the Arts Galleries Exhibition Opening Reception\, \nIn the Hayloft/Breezeway Galleries\, the Eart First Exhibition will be displayed. This exhibition aims to explore and celebrate the central theme of Earth stewardship and sustainability. In a world where our environmental consciousness is more important than ever\, your artistic voice can be a powerful catalyst for change. Artists exploring themes of sustainability\, connection with nature\, upcycling media\, coordination and relationships between species\, climate dialogue\, and more through various media are encouraged to apply. Earth First will highlight the delicate balance between human existence and the natural world as seen through environmental consciousness. This is a national\, juried call\, and all accepted works will be exhibited in our main gallery space from Saturday\, April 20\, through Saturday\, June 1\, 2024. \nIn the Falcon Gallery is the “Art of Beekeeping\,” presented by Spikenard Farm Honeybee Sanctuary.
