Irish Dance Workshop: Adult

Class Description

Presented by FCA and the Irish Dance Academy, this is an introductory Irish dance workshop during which participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of Irish dance music, technique, and choreography. No prior dance experience necessary.

About the Instructor

Miranda started her dance journey when she was three. She took classes in many styles and competed in tap, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical. Miranda first tried Irish dance in fifth grade. She didn’t want to quit dancing at her former studio, so in middle school she was taking classes at three studios! She discovered her love of rhythms and began focusing on tap and Irish. Miranda studied Irish dance at Inis Cairde in Raleigh, North Carolina. She has traveled to the Southern Regionals to compete in teams, solos and traditional set. Her favorite set is Three Sea Captain’s which she competes at Regionals every year she has the chance. Miranda had the opportunity to go to the World Championships in 2019 to compete on a dance drama team which won second place. She actually designed and created a giant nose costume out of paper mache and chicken wire to help tell the story! Miranda’s favorite part about Irish dance is performing in the community at international festivals and pubs. She loves the Irish dance community and how welcoming everyone is. Miranda is majoring in Industrial and Systems Engineering with a minor in Industrial Design Studios. She hopes to find a career path to combine her love of math and art.
