Fancy Gap Hiking: Rock Castle Gorge

This 6 mile route goes through forests and meadows, and along a ridge offering enchanting views. We’ll search for signs of homesteads long gone and possibly come face to face with current non-human residents grazing on a hillside. About 3 miles of the hike will be along the original Appalachian Trail where we can imagine hikers’ experiences along the trail before it was moved further west in the 1950s. There will be some hills but nothing as serious as going down into Rock Castle Gorge on this tour.
