Beginning Metalsmithing

Students will be introduced to traditional metalsmithing techniques that will be used to create wearable pieces of jewelry. This is a highly technical discipline, and as such, mastering individual techniques will be emphasized and utilized to produce two pieces of jewelry – a pair of earrings and a pendant. We will cover the basics such as sawing, filing, soldering, forming and bending, and explore a variety of surface textures to make these projects truly artistic.
