Don’t forget THIS SUNDAY – Wild Gardeners winter series:

Living With Our Forests Part Three.

Join us for the FREE  “Living With Our Forest”  series – Part Three – at the Floyd library community room,  Sunday, February 11, from 2:00 to 4:00 ending with an optional pot-luck (please bring your own plates & utensils)

We will investigate the history of our Appalachian Forests and landscaping or gardening with plants that can serve pollinators, wildlife and us.  Fred First will take the longer view, looking at the state of forests and humankind from the time of the last ice age and into the future.  One of the most important forest features for wildlife are dead trees, called snags. Barbara Pleasant will talk about the crucial roles played by decaying trees in supporting wildlife, fungi and soil in our mountainside forests.   Jane Cundiff will present ideas about growing our backyard landscapes in tune with our forest pollinators and birds. Bring your questions and share your own experiences this Sunday.
