Fundamentals of Plant Propagation

March 29, 2020 : 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

$40

Are you new to gardening and want to know how to start some seeds? Do you have dreams of a big berry patch but can only afford to buy one plant? Are you tired of buying seeds every season?
Join us for this informative and hands on class and learn the basics of starting seeds, propagating plants from cuttings, and seed saving.
In this class we will cover the basics of growing vegetables from seed. We will discuss direct-seeding versus transplanting, timing of planting and transplanting, and tips for ensuring success. We will also cover basic plant propagation from cuttings – a cheap and effective way to
have lots of plants. We will use elderberry as our demonstration/practice plant. Finally, we will talk about saving seeds from the plants you’ve grown to use the next season.
This is a hands on class so you will get to plant some seeds and make some cuttings. Best of all
you get to take your seeds and cuttings home with you!

*Workshops will be filmed for our local Citizens TV program, and participants will be asked to
fill our a photo release form. However, we will respect the privacy of those who do not wish to
be filmed during the day.
