Floyd County Historical Society is partnering with Floyd Tourism for exhibits of Floyd People and Places from 1969 as part of Floyd’s 50 Years of Love celebration July 27 through September 14.

Floyd Tourism is celebrating 50 Years of Love with VA Tourism -as Virginia is for Lovers famous logo and brand turns 50 this year – created in 1969!
Our 50 Years of Love Celebration in Floyd includes 50 days of special events, promotions and products July 27 through September 14 throughout the town and county.

It also includes a Celebration of Floyd 50 Years ago – with displays and photos at numerous business sites and a photo Exhibit at the Floyd Visitor Center of Floyd People and Places from 1969. This opens on July 27 and continues through Sept 14.

We are looking for PHOTOS from that era (around 1969) to use in the displays – both of Floyd folks and Floyd places. Who were you in 1969? What did Floyd look like then?

The Historical Society will host several Photo Scanning Days for folks to bring in photos to be scanned to be part of our display. Bring your photos to be scanned to the museum on Friday, May 17, 12-4pm and on Saturday, May 18, 11am-3pm.

If you cannot get your photos in then and would like them to be considered for our displays, be in touch to make other arrangements. Tourismdirector@floydcova.org. 540-239-8509.
